Light-tackle fishing here opens onto bays, beaches and the southern reaches of Pine Island Sound near Sanibel. Tarpon, snook and redfish are central to the local fishing, with other species adding variety as conditions change.
Tell the captain where you are staying so you can plan a practical meeting point for your charter.
Sanibel, Captiva & Pine Island Sound
Barrier islands, passes and backcountry flats create varied water for snook, redfish and trout. Seasonal tarpon move along the coast as the spring and summer fishery develops.
Cape Coral & Matlacha
Matlacha Pass and its oyster-lined bays offer backcountry opportunities, including cooler-season trout and redfish on the flats. Cape Coral visitors can discuss arrangements around Matlacha, Pine Island or Burnt Store Marina.
Charlotte Harbor & Burnt Store Marina
Mangroves, grass flats and deeper harbor water support a diverse fishery. Tarpon, cobia, mackerel and other seasonal species feature in the harbor, with access from communities around its shoreline.
Boca Grande & Placida
Boca Grande Pass and the nearby beaches are a major part of Capt. Andy’s tarpon fishing season. May through July is a prime period to plan ahead for a dedicated trip.
